How we check

Bharat Fact Check shows which rumours are spreading in India and what trusted fact-checkers found about them. It is free and independent.

Where the rumours come from

Every few hours our crawler reads published fact-checks from independent Indian fact-checking organisations, using their public feeds and Google’s Fact Check Tools. It also reads Google Trends to see what people in India are searching for. It respects every site’s robots.txt rules and links to the original articles instead of copying them.

How the top rumours are ranked

A rumour ranks higher when more fact-checkers have covered it, when the coverage is recent, when many people are searching for it, and when many visitors check it on this site.

How verdicts are decided

Verdicts come from the published fact-checks, not from us. Short summaries and the family messages are written with AI and based only on those fact-checks. If the sources are unclear or disagree, we say “Can’t verify”.

Checking a message

When you paste a message, we look for the main claim, search existing fact-checks and show what matches. If nothing matches, we say so. That does not mean the message is true. We store the claim text without your IP address or phone number, to see which rumours are spreading.

Corrections

We check claims, not people. If you think a verdict or summary is wrong, email support@giveawayworld.online and we will review it.
